Erik Ahrens is a lawyer at GERMELA Wülfing and specializes in advising internationally active companies in Commercial and Corporate Law as well as Foreign Trade Law. A particular focus of his practice is advising companies on entering foreign markets, primarily in relation to the markets of Asia and those of the Near and Middle East. Mr. Ahrens continues to be head of the Asia desk at GERMELA Wülfing.
During his legal training, questions with an international connection were always the focus of Mr. Ahrens’ work. He has worked for the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam as well as for various internationally active law firms, where he gained particular experience in connection with cross-border transactions.
As part of his professional career, Mr. Ahrens has further deepened his focus on content and international issues and regularly advises clients on founding companies abroad, cross-border M&A transactions, US sanctions law, international distribution agreements, and compliance issues.
Due to his work for the German Consulate General in Vietnam, the support of various mandates related to Southeast Asia and and various stays in the region, Mr. Ahrens has extensive economic, political and legal knowledge of the region, especially in relation to Vietnam.
Mr. Ahrens is a member of the East Asian Association and the Asia Committee of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.
He is also a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Europe as well as at the Junge Akademie of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and Company Law.
Mr. Ahrens is fluent in German and English.
